THE BIRTH OF CHULA VISTA LANDSCAPING
On November 20, 1990 Alfredo Zavala, a licensed real estate broker, decided to perform landscaping services at one of the accounts under management by MCR Asset Management Group, the property management firm he owned, out of frustration due to the poor services the property was receiving.
Alfredo’s colleagues in the property management industry were impressed with the improvements made to Los Arcos and asked about the “new” company. He immediately had to come up with a name and Chula Vista Landscaping was born.
We were awarded the contracts on five individual properties and our first crew was built. Today Chula Vista Landscaping is a fully equipped commercial landscaping company with 45 full size trucks and trailers and over 85 full time employees. We service more than 191 accounts in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
OUR ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
Alfredo Zavala attended UCLA during the 1970’s and later graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, working as a congressional aide to then U.S. Senator Dennis DeConcini. As the company’s founder he is still a licensed real estate broker. However, he devotes all of his time to our growing company. His 18+ years of experience in the real estate industry gives us a leading edge in understanding the needs and objectives of property managers. He is our President and General Manager.
Phoebe Sanchez, our most senior employee (and no, she is not Alfredo’s wife) is the former Phoebe Tornbom married to Cenobio Sanchez, a professional landscaper presently working as a supervisor with another firm. She has worked for MCR Asset Management Group and Chula Vista Landscaping for the last twenty years. Today, she is our Assistant General Manager.
Gino Hirrill is our Operations Manager. Having proudly served in the United States Army and previously owning his own business, Gino has first hand knowledge of what supervision is all about as well as customer service. Gino began his employment as an Irrigation Tech in 2003 and was promoted to Operations Manager in 2005. Today, Mr. Hirrill oversees the entire Operation Division from construction and maintenance to customer service. Mr. Hirrill is married to Ivonne, and they have three children, Karolina 12, Brandon 9 and little Judith Alexa 2.
Victor Beyliss has worn many hats from his original start at Chula Vista in 1998. Having studied Engineering at the University of Sonora, Victor was originally our Facilites Foreman in charge of our yard and all equipment and vehicles. Because of his hard work, motivation and loyalty he has been promoted through the years to Director of Personnel and now Senior Assistant Operations Manager. He is married to Olivia Cornejo Beyliss and they have three charming children, Lesley, Victor (Tito) and Roberto.
Sheila Reidnauer is our Office Manager. Starting as a receptionist in 2005, it was obvious to many that Sheila’s talents had not quite been tapped. With proven computer skills, loyalty and a great work ethic, she was promoted to Office Manager. As second in command in Administration behind Phoebe Sanchez, she has become an incredible asset to Chula Vista Landscaping. Just be patient with her pronunciation of the streets here in Tucson, as she is a transplant from Pennsylvania!
Mariska La Cava is our Receptionist. Our most recent addition to Chula Vista Landscaping brings her contagious sense of humor and incredible work ethic as our Receptionist. Mariska is in her 2nd year and we are looking forward to many more with her. Mariska is married to Joe, and they have 17 year old son Joseph.
This is our administrative family team. Our goal is to promote a positive work environment not only among our administrators but also with the employees in the field. The company president feels that all employees form an intricate part of our team regardless of the work assigned.
